Summary

The Minor Prophet Joel encourages us to, “Consecrate a fast, call a sacred or solemn assembly.” God clearly says in Joel, “Turn to Me.” Turning to God involves Repentance. Repentance is turning from our evil ways back to God and His ways. In order to turn back to God we must Rend our hearts. Rend means to split or tear apart. It can mean to tear apart in anguish. We must allow God to break our hearts as we anguish over the sins of this nation. It is high time that we get serious with Him. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” God break our hearts and lead us to fasting, weeping, and mourning for our nation! We must Respond to God’s command and indeed “turn” to Him. Will you say to God, “You can count on me.” Will you commit to pray for our country? More things are wrought by prayer than any of us can imagine. Pray for Unity. Pray for Strength. Pray for an Awakening of God’s people. Now is the time for serious prayer and intercession for our country. It is not too late for God to relent, forgive us, and pour out His blessing upon this nation once again! Pray, pray, and then pray some more!
